Musical Endeavors

The first instrument I learned to play was the piano. In third grade, I started to take cello lessons as well. Later on in middle school I dropped the piano lessons and concentrated more on practicing cello, but my mom made me take up piano again in high school. The last and only classical piece I still can sort of play is Rachmaninoff's Moment Musical #4. It's awesome. My crowing achievement in cello is probably getting into New Jersey Governor's School of the Arts, where I developed an a strong affinity for chamber music.

In college I've played in the Symphony and Chamber orchestras throughout most of my semesters. Miraculously I was privileged to have a few solos despite negative improvement (that's euphemism for sucking) due to lack of lessons and practicing. My most significant musical endeavor in college, however, was with a string quartet that a couple of friends and I formed. We arranged much of our own music involving video game themes and classic disney themes (back when Disney didn't need Pixar to make good movies) and performed for some student club shows and festivals. Because we enjoyed it so much, we even put on our own mini-concert/show and invited all our friends. The concert was filmed and can be viewed in 5 segments on, where else, youtube.

Sports

I consider myself to be a relatively athletic person, and I enjoy exercising in general. My favorite sport hands down is tennis. It's probably the first sport I started learning to play (my family used to play together with some friends every Sunday). It's the only sport I've been "hardcore" about. In fact, it's the only sport I will make an effort to watch, besides events like the Olympics. I played in a couple tournaments but I sucked at those. The furthest I ever got was the semi finals of the B division in central jersey.

When I was in elementary/upper elementary school I used to be on a swimming team and I think I was pretty good. Unfortunately I quit after a few years because I felt "too busy," but now I sort of regret it considering how much more in shape I would be today if I had kept it up.

In the winter, I pretty much only lift weights and run every now and then (read "almost never").
